Your care does not stop on the day your baby arrives. Eva WomanCare Clinic offers post delivery care in Vashi for mother and baby, with check-ups that follow your healing and answer the questions that come up once you are home.
A Postnatal Care Plan That Fits Your Delivery
The first six weeks after childbirth, the postpartum period, matter most for healing and bonding. Dr. Grishma Ranjangaonkar plans your follow-up around how you delivered and how you and your baby are doing. She is available on call before and after your delivery, and nursing care at home can be arranged if you need it.
For week-by-week advice at home, read our postnatal recovery guide.
Post Delivery Care for the Mother
Your body and emotions change quickly after birth. At each postnatal visit we check your recovery and give practical self-care advice.
What your check-ups cover:
- Physical Recovery Monitoring: Bleeding, blood pressure and healing of stitches
- Emotional Wellbeing Support: Space to discuss mood, worry and coping
- Breastfeeding Guidance: Help with latching, positioning and milk supply
- Nutritional Counseling: Diet advice for healing and breastfeeding
- Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation: Exercises for bladder control and core strength
- Sleep Management Strategies: Realistic ways to rest around night feeds
Postnatal Care After a Normal Delivery
A vaginal birth has its own recovery needs, especially after stitches or a tear. We help you heal comfortably and return to daily activity at your own pace.
Our care includes:
- Perineal care for stitches or tears
- Building activity up gradually
- Postpartum bleeding (lochia) checks
- Bladder and bowel function assessment
- Posture and back pain advice
- Safe exercises once healing allows
Post Delivery Care After a C-Section
A cesarean is major abdominal surgery, so recovery takes longer. Our post delivery care after a C-section focuses on the incision, pain relief and moving safely.
Our C-section recovery support includes:
- Incision checks and wound care
- Pain relief that suits breastfeeding
- Supporting your abdomen when you cough or move
- Lifting, stairs and driving advice
- Scar care after healing
- Spacing your next pregnancy
Newborn Care Guidance for the First Weeks
At your postnatal visits we review feeding and weight gain and explain everyday newborn care. We work alongside your baby’s pediatrician, who leads examinations and vaccinations.
Topics we cover:
- Your baby's routine examinations
- Weight gain and feeding assessment
- Newborn jaundice and when to check it
- Umbilical cord care
- Keeping to the vaccination schedule
- Early developmental milestones
- Crying, sleep and skin rashes
When Recovery Needs Extra Medical Attention
Most mothers recover well with routine follow-up. If pain, bleeding or a wound problem does not settle, Dr. Grishma will examine you, advise any tests and explain your options. If a separate gynecological problem such as an ovarian cyst is found and an operation is advised, laparoscopic surgery may be possible.
This may involve:
- Examination and symptom review
- Ultrasound or blood tests if advised
- Minimally invasive surgical options
- Knowing when to go to hospital
- Review of your discharge summary
- Referral to other specialists if needed
Holistic Approach to Postpartum Wellbeing
Recovery is more than physical healing. Feeling tearful in the first two weeks is common and usually passes. If low mood or anxiety lasts longer, tell us, because postnatal depression is treatable.
We also talk about:
- Postpartum depression screening, with referral if needed
- Mother-baby bonding guidance
- Contraception and birth spacing
- Involving your partner and family
- Return-to-work planning
- Intimacy and the return of periods

Your Care Begins with a Conversation
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
When should my first postpartum checkup be scheduled?
After a normal delivery, we usually advise a check-up within the first week, then at about 2 weeks and 6 weeks. After a C-section, the first review is usually 3 to 5 days after discharge so the incision can be checked. Your doctor may adjust this schedule to suit your recovery.
What warning signs should I watch for after delivery?
Seek medical help straight away for heavy bleeding (soaking through a pad in less than an hour), fever above 100.4°F, severe headache, vision changes, breathing difficulty, severe pain or an infected incision. Heavy bleeding, breathing difficulty and severe pain are emergencies: go to the nearest hospital emergency department at any hour, without waiting for the clinic to open. For your baby, feeding difficulties, jaundice, fever or unusual lethargy need a pediatrician’s review the same day.
How long should I rest after childbirth?
It depends on how you delivered and how you are healing. Take things easy for the first two weeks and add activity gradually. After a C-section, allow around six weeks before normal activities. After a vaginal birth, light daily tasks often feel manageable within one to three weeks, though full recovery takes longer.
When can I resume exercise after giving birth?
After a normal delivery, gentle walking can usually begin within days. After a C-section, short easy walks are usually encouraged early too, as moving lowers the risk of blood clots. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should wait until your 6-week check and your doctor’s clearance.
How long does bleeding last after delivery?
Bleeding after birth, called lochia, usually lasts four to six weeks and happens after a C-section too. It starts heavy and bright red, then lightens to pink, brown and yellowish-white. Use pads, not tampons. See a doctor urgently if it suddenly becomes heavy, contains large clots or smells unpleasant.
When should I start contraception after having a baby?
You can become pregnant as early as three weeks after delivery, even while breastfeeding and before your periods return, so raise contraception at your first postnatal check and do not leave it until the six-week visit. Some methods suit breastfeeding mothers and others start later, so choose with your doctor. See our contraception advice in Vashi page.
What should I bring to a postnatal check-up at your Vashi clinic?
Carry your delivery discharge summary, the medicines you are taking, recent blood or scan reports and your baby’s health card. Allow 30 to 45 minutes for a first visit. Booking ahead is preferred, though walk-ins are seen if a slot is free.
