Pregnancy and High-Risk Pregnancy Care in Vashi, Navi Mumbai
Care for Routine and High-Risk Pregnancies
Are you looking for the best pregnancy care in Vashi? Eva WomanCare Clinic looks after you from the first positive test to delivery planning, with routine antenatal checkups for a straightforward pregnancy and closer monitoring when yours is a high-risk pregnancy.
Your care is led by Dr. Grishma Ranjangaonkar (MBBS, DGO), who has 15+ years of experience and consults in English, Hindi and Marathi.
Antenatal Care Planned Around You and Your Baby
Your first antenatal appointment usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Dr. Grishma asks about your health and any earlier pregnancies, checks your blood pressure and weight, works out your due date and plans the scans and blood tests ahead. Ultrasound is available at the Vashi clinic. Bring older records, current prescriptions and any recent ultrasound or lab reports.
Later checkups are shorter. Each one looks at how you are feeling, how your baby is growing and the questions that come up between visits, from diet and safe medicines to sleep and work. Our first trimester guide explains what the early weeks involve.
What Makes a Pregnancy High-Risk
A high-risk pregnancy is one where you or your baby need closer watching than usual. It is a way of planning care, not a prediction, and many women in this group go on to have healthy pregnancies and births.
Risk can also change as the months pass, so Dr. Grishma reviews it at your first visit and again after each scan and set of blood tests.
Common Reasons for Extra Monitoring
- You are 35 or older, or you are carrying twins or triplets
- Diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid, kidney or heart disease before pregnancy
- Gestational diabetes or raised blood pressure found during this pregnancy
- A previous caesarean, preterm birth, stillbirth or repeated miscarriage
- Severe anaemia, a low-lying placenta or concerns about your baby's growth
- A body weight well above or below the healthy range

Your Antenatal Visit Schedule
This is the usual pattern for a routine pregnancy, and visits are added whenever you need closer monitoring.
1
First Visit in Early Pregnancy
Your history, blood pressure, weight and first blood tests are recorded. An early scan confirms the pregnancy and your due date, and folic acid is started if you are not already taking it.
2
Up to 28 Weeks
Checkups about every four weeks. The first-trimester screening scan falls at 11 to 14 weeks, the anomaly scan at around 18 to 20 weeks, and a glucose test for gestational diabetes is done early in pregnancy and usually repeated between 24 and 28 weeks.
3
28 to 36 Weeks
Checkups every two weeks. Your blood pressure, urine and haemoglobin are checked, your baby's growth and movements are followed, and a growth scan may be advised.
4
36 Weeks to Birth
Weekly checkups. Your baby's position is checked, and you talk through where and how you plan to deliver, pain relief in labour and when to leave for hospital.
Warning Signs That Should Not Wait
Do not wait for your next appointment if you have vaginal bleeding, a gush or steady leak of fluid, severe tummy pain, a bad headache with blurred vision or sudden swelling, a high fever, or your baby is moving less than usual. Go straight to the nearest hospital emergency department, and do not wait for clinic hours. Our pregnancy warning signs page explains each one.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How often should I visit a doctor during pregnancy?
In a straightforward pregnancy, antenatal visits are usually every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 weeks, and then weekly until your baby is born. You may be asked to come more often if yours is a high-risk pregnancy or if something new, such as raised blood pressure, shows up along the way.
What is considered a high-risk pregnancy?
A pregnancy is called high-risk when a health condition, your pregnancy history or something found during this pregnancy means you or your baby need closer monitoring. Common reasons include diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, twins, being 35 or older and earlier pregnancy losses. The term describes the level of care you need. It does not mean a problem is certain.
Do you offer epidural pain relief during labour?
Yes. An epidural is given by an anaesthetist in hospital once labour is under way. It eases contraction pain for most women, though you will still feel pressure. It does not suit everyone, and side effects such as a drop in blood pressure or a headache can happen. Our third trimester guide has more on getting ready for birth.
How early in pregnancy should I see the doctor?
Book as soon as a home test is positive, ideally within the first 8 to 10 weeks, so that the early blood tests and dating scan are done on time. Come sooner if you have a long-term medical condition or a previous ectopic pregnancy. Bleeding or one-sided pain in early pregnancy needs a same-day check, at a hospital emergency department if the clinic is closed. You can estimate your dates beforehand with our pregnancy due date calculator.
Do I need a high-risk pregnancy specialist in Vashi?
Not always. Many higher-risk pregnancies, including those with gestational diabetes, thyroid problems, raised blood pressure or twins, are looked after by a gynecologist with extra visits and tests. Dr. Grishma manages these at the clinic and brings in maternal-fetal medicine or other specialists when a pregnancy needs their input, so one doctor still coordinates your care.
Can I have a normal delivery if my pregnancy is high-risk?
Often, yes. Being high-risk does not automatically mean a caesarean. The decision depends on how well your blood pressure or sugar is controlled, your baby’s growth and position, where the placenta lies and whether you have had a caesarean before. Dr. Grishma goes over this with you in the last weeks, and the plan can change if safety calls for it.
Can I shift my antenatal care to Eva WomanCare midway through pregnancy?
Yes. Bring your antenatal file, scan reports, blood test results and current prescriptions so that nothing is repeated without reason. Dr. Grishma checks what has been done, sees whether any test or scan is due and continues your visits from there.
